David Poole

Recreation Program Manager

David was involved in a horrific ski accident on January 22, 2006, at Copper Mountain, CO. At the age of 21, David severed his spinal cord and broke multiple bones when he tumbled down a 60-foot rock face. His passion for the outdoors and his competitive nature have helped David continue his life without the use of his legs. He has trained and competed with the US Paralympic Nordic team for Biathlon, won the 2012 Off Road Hand Cycle National Championship, competed in the 2016 Winter X-Games as a Mono-X athlete, along with many other adventures with various groups and adaptive programs that have helped with the struggles of recreation with a disability. David is very passionate about outdoor recreation and views his injury as an everyday challenge to continue to break barriers and change people’s perceptions about life with a disability. As Ability Montana’s Recreation Manager, he aspires to provide opportunities for everyone to pursue their passion in outdoor recreation!
